Robotic Lawn Mowing
Lawn mowing is one of the most essential landscaping tasks, and YardRobot is very good at it. It mows your lawn autonomously, without perimeter wires. You can pre-select paths, or even customize them yourself. Unlike with conventional robotic mowers, there’s no random criss-crossing of your yard while mowing. Instead, YardRobot stays precisely on track. Unless it has to avoid an obstacle that is. YardRobot can even automatically change the mowing height, from 4 in / 10cm to 1.5 in / 3.5cm.
Raking, Seeding and Fertilization
Buying sod/turf is expensive, seeding grass yourself is annoying, not to mention back breaking. Yard and landscaping work really is hard work. YardRobot has a rake that can loosen soil up to 2 inches deep. It carries two solid particle dispensers in its turret. Swiveling the turret left and right, YardRobot can hence disperse for example grass seed and fertilizer to seed a lawn. YardRobot can’t yet level a bed, although future software upgrades may give it that skill, using the rake. So you aren’t completely off the hook when it comes to seeding a lawn, but YardRobot sure helps a lot by doing most of the heavy lifting for you.
All life needs water. YardRobot carries a powerful and accurate, fully stabilized (pitch and yaw) main water gun that can disperse 1.5 gallons / 6 liters of water per minute. That’s enough firepower to regularly water up to 1/2 acre of grass, plus other plant life. YardRobot is almost pin point accurate, so each plant gets exactly what it needs, no more, no less. This saves precious resources, which helps our planet, and your wallet. There’s no more need for clunky irrigation zone programming, no more leaks and no more waste.
YardRobot carries a 1 quart / 1 liter tank for weed killer. It sprays this right on target. This can save up to 90% of chemicals compared to conventional large scale spraying.
YardRobot has a variety of tools available to deal with pests. Larger pests can often be chased away by rapid movement. If that doesn’t do it, YardRobot uses its main water gun to spray birds, rabbits, cats, rats and other animals to chase them off. Birds in particular are notorious for eating seeds and leaving behind yucky waste.
Creepy crawlers that edge too close to the home are dealt with by spraying of minimal quantities of pesticide, right on target.
Leaf blowing is annoying, noisy and dirty. That’s why many people procrastinate. YardRobot doesn’t mind and blows away whatever debris it finds, so huge heaps of leaves won’t ever form in the first place.
One big key to being environmentally friendly and helping to preserve nature is to avoid waste. Not wasting also helps your wallet: waste not, want not. YardRobot’s excellent vision and accurate tools means that YardRobot puts water, seed, fertilizer, weed and pest killer exactly where it needs to be, in exactly the right quantity. It uses only what is needed, exactly where it’s needed. This leads to an up to 90% reduction in the use of resources, compared to traditional landscaping processes and methods. No more massive spraying of gallons and gallons of chemicals, instead, pin point accuracy.
Equipped with multiple cameras, computer vision, a speaker and a powerful water gun, YardRobot’s strategy for home security is to warn you of intruders on the one hand, and to record, distract, delay and possibly chase off intruders on the other hand. YardRobot protects itself in a similar manner. If stolen, it alerts you and updates you about its GPS position.
You can chose an optional snow plow unit that slides onto the front and turns YardRobot into a snow plow. YardRobot can’t clear feet of snow in one go, but, it can continuously work to keep critical areas free of snow by repeatedly snow plowing over those same areas.
Automatic, Wireless Recharging
YardRobot has a big battery to power all its powerful tools for a long time. If the battery gets low in charge, YardRobot returns to its charging station and recharges wirelessly.
Automatic Water Refilling
YardRobot can carry up to 3 gallons / 12 liters of water. Its powerful main water gun shoots out this volume in as little as 2 minutes. That’s why we developed the Companion Water Calve that YardRobot uses to automatically refuel itself in no time. Each YardRobot comes with 2 of these companion valves. Installation is simple, with multiple adapters for differently sized/positioned spigots. The Companion Water Valve is solar powered and can also be operated via the press of a button, so the spigot is still accessible for other purposes than YardRobot refills.
